Welcome to the 2nd Annual 5K Nun Run and Salesian Sprint One-Mile Fun Run! Taking place on Saturday March 23rd, both races benefit the Villa Madonna campus, which includes the Villa Madonna School and the Salesians Youth Center. Proceeds will be used for tuition and sports program assistance; school equipment and supplies; and campus and facilities maintenance.

About The Nun Run

Enjoy beautiful 5K and 1-Mile cross-country style courses as you wind your way through the scenic campus of Mary Help of Christians Center. Experience orange groves, wooded trails, horse pastures, open fields, and most importantly “Rosie The Pig.” Whether you’re a first-time runner or gearing up for the spring race season, there is a place for you here.

The 5K starts promptly at 8:30 a.m. and will be chip timed by TRC Race Management. The 1-Mile Fun Run/Walk will immediately follow the 5K.

Come out and join us for a great mid Spring run before the heat of Summer is upon us. This is a great opportunity to support an awesome cause!

Villa Madonna School was established by the Salesian Sisters more than 80 years ago to educate and care for young girls and boys from Tampa’s inner-city, working-class families.

The Salesian Sisters, or Daughters of Mary Help of Christians, is a religious order founded by Saint John Bosco to care for the young. The Salesian Sisters opened their first school more than 140 years ago in Mornese, Alessandria, Italy. The school was a place where young women could learn, enjoy themselves, and grown in faith while being safe from harm. Today, the Salesian Sisters operate schools and missions in more than 130 countries.

Villa Madonna School is blessed to be the home of several energetic, vibrant, and playful Salesian Sisters. They can often be found rollerblading at recess, playing basketball, teaching math, and even coaching soccer....all while wearing the famous white habits! A main focus of the Salesian Sisters’ mission in Tampa has always been, and continues to be, serving the less fortunate. Over the years, the Salesian Sisters have made Villa Madonna a unique haven for area youth, providing a safe and educational environment where they feel loved and appreciated.

Once inside Villa Madonna School’s beautiful tree-lined gates, the hustle and bustle of the busy Tampa streets melt away and the quiet, peaceful Salesian spirit will embrace you. “Celebrate Youth” is a Salesian motto that reminds us all that our youth is a time to celebrate. Villa Madonna School offers a vast variety of campus experiences to support and celebrate the individuality of every student.

Take a stroll through shady Ana Maria Park, and you may hear the rushing of the Fountain Courts, and the laughter of our littlest Salesians as they play! You may also see our little Salesians on of the school’s three playgrounds, two softball fields, soccer field, track, or full gymnasium, or maybe in the chapel or the youth community center. Villa Madonna School also offers rich programs in Fine Arts, Music, and Art, not to mention a superior Sports & Athletics program and an unmatched Technology program!
